Who We are

African Urbanism

As Africa undergoes rapid urban transformation, we believe that solutions must be homegrown, culturally relevant, and inclusive. Through interdisciplinary research, policy engagement, and capacity-building initiatives, CAU serves as a hub for urban innovation and a platform for collaboration among academics, policymakers, urban planners, and grassroots communities.

The Center for African Urbanism (CAU) is a leading private, non-profit research organization dedicated to re-imagining and transforming Africa’s cities through innovative, Africa-centered frameworks and solutions. Established in 2024 in Kampala, Uganda, CAU is committed to addressing the continent’s unique urbanization challenges with research-driven, policy-oriented, and community-inclusive approaches.
